The Voyage of the Beagle

James Taylor

2009 marks the bi-centenary of the birth of Charles Darwin (1809-1882) and the 150th anniversary of his sensational publication The Origin of Species

Darwin’s radical theories developed from a remarkable global voyage in HMS Beagle (1831-1836) when he befriended the official artists - Augustus Earle and Conrad Martens. James Taylor's talk features their work to illustrate the Darwin story.
