2011 POETRY COMPETITION RESULTS

There were 251 adult entries which came from all over the country and Europe. Each poem, identified only by its title and competition number, was read at least twice and twenty-one poems selected for the final round of judging in the Open Section and a Certificate of Distinction. A further 11 poems were awarded a Certificate of Merit.

We were delighted to welcome a good crowd to the Award Ceremony to hear Dr. Charles Bennett read and talk on poetry and listen to the excellent adjudications. History was made by Peter Gillott's poem Old Hill Track as, for the first time since the inception of the Mere festival, the winner of the popular vote in Poetry in the Grove coincided with the adjudicator's choice for first prize.
