Literary Festival 2016

2016 marked the 20th running of the Mere Literary Festival. The Festival took place from 10th-16th October. The festival programme as always included a range of really interesting speakers, and activities - featuring both familiar and new faces from the literary world.

Also, this year's literary competition took the form of a timed flash fiction contest, where entrants had one week to write an original story of 350 words or less. Each story also had to contain a specific phrase, that was announced on this website at the start of the competition week.

We also commemorated the 20th anniversary of the Literary Festival. The 20th anniversary celebrations formed a key part of the Festival Awards and Celebrations event on the final day of the festival. This event also saw the official launch of a book looking back on twenty years of the festival.
